I hate to sound naff, but you are what you eat! When you eat foods that are highly processed and with little nutritional value you are almost certainly going to feel tired, gain weight easily, and put your self at risk of many ” western” type diseases:
– insulin resistance
– type two diabetes
– sleep apnoea
– irritable bowel syndrome
– anxiety disorder
Whole Foods Diet
Eating a whole foods diet will decrease the risk of exposure to these diseases. Also known as traditional whole foods diet, paleo diet, naturopathic diet, or what our grandparents called “food.”
If you vary your diet with seasonal produce, different types of animal protein, large amounts of vegetable with some fruit you will give your body the best possible chance at being happy and healthy.
Many of my patients who have moved to a more whole foods diet have noticed benefits such as: weight loss, improved sleep, lower stress levels, more regular hormone patterns and moods, clearer skin, healthier hair and nails, digestive symptoms disappear, and the list goes on.
When I start discussing this diet with patients the usual responses are:
“But I don’t have time to cook” or “I’m not a very good cook”
“I don’t know where to start, it is all so overwhelming” or “My job involves a lot of eating out, and long hours so I’m never at home”
Don’t stress too much. After regular nutritional consultations about healthy eating (a whole foods diet) these responses have changed to:
“I love what I eat, and how I feel. I can’t believe I didn’t make time for my nutrition before I saw Claire.”
” I still work long hours, and eat out a lot, but now I know what I should be eating and can manage my busy lifestyle with a wholefoods diet.”
At the end of the day you want to feel good and not be worrying about your health. Food is meant to be enjoyable, not a chore. I am very passionate about teaching people the benefits of a wholefoods diet and look forward to sharing this with you.
